The only thing is because I had the previous method it showed me the following error on
$ sudo apt-get update
E: Conflicting values set for option Signed-By regarding source https://pkgs.infra.smallstep.com/stable/debian/ debs: /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/smallstep.asc != /etc/apt/keyrings/smallstep.asc
E: The list of sources could not be read.
I've deleted /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/smallstep.asc and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/smallstep.list and the error disappeared.

The deb822 format for describing a package source has become the default in both Debian and Ubuntu. The new format has been available since Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 9.
