This only made it into C++23 but is very useful
it also gets the layer node as a shared pointer now
Necessary for gcc13 (Ubuntu24)
Hands off the collection of the sensitives to the caller entirely. Implement the higher level makeLayer from a detElement and a layer pattern in terms of it.
