MER should work with all the most used awk interpreters?

We know MER works with **gawk** but it doesn't work with **mawk**. However, mawk is the interpreter that comes by default in Ubuntu, from what I understood. 

So, if we want MER to be really easy to install, maybe we should consider make it compatible with at least the most used interpreters of awk.
