Why are update tokens tied to specific Live Activities?

I'm interested in adopting Voltra but I'm kind of off-put by the fact that "update tokens are tied to specific Live Activities". This seems like a ton of book keeping to handle on my backend and back and forth between client devices and my API.

Am I understanding this correctly?

There are two ways to update Live Activities remotely:

• Use update tokens that are unique to each Live Activity you start (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/activitykit/starting-and-updating-live-activities-with-activitykit-push-notifications#Start-a-Live-Activity-that-supports-push-updates-to-push-tokens). This approach is available starting with iOS 17.2.
• Use broadcast push notifications (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/setting-up-broadcast-push-notifications), available starting with iOS 18.

Broadcast is not yet supported by Voltra. Support is planned for version 1.4, which should be released within the next two weeks.
